Isaiah wakes beneath blinding hospital lights to a body he barely recognizes. His bones are shattered. His right arm is gone. A tube forces air into his lungs, and when armed soldiers rush into the room, he has no idea whether he is being protected or watched. He cannot even remember his own name.

Dr. Heather Donaldson seems to offer the first measure of safety. She helps him breathe through the panic, gives him water, and tells him what little she knows. His name came from the remains of a student ID. He was found in a crater beside a meteor. By every ordinary expectation, he should have died there.

But nothing about him is ordinary anymore. The blood he coughs up is blue. Exposed to the air, it freezes. His body is cold enough to frost medical equipment, and the darkness no longer hides the room around him. He has survived something impossible, only to wake inside another mystery.

Heather leads him into Dome 03, a vast underground community of buildings, gardens, and people with astonishing gifts. Figures fly overhead. Others move in streaks of wind and electricity. These altered survivors are called supers, and Isaiah is one of them. For a moment, wonder almost outweighs fear. Then he asks how long he has been unconscious.

Thirteen years and five months. The world has moved on without him.

The walls have fallen. The survivors who once fought simply to stay alive are building a nation.

For Isaiah, now known as Hozoki Bekhor, victory brings a responsibility no battle could prepare him for: giving his people a future that will not be taken from them again.

Across the ruins, extraordinary powers become the tools of ordinary life. Metal is welded with bare hands. Buildings rise, farms flourish, and Kindred City grows into a center of learning. The Evoldans are creating a home where being different is no longer a reason to hide. Hozoki stands at its heart as Grand Warden, carrying the memory of friends who never lived to see it.

Behind the title is a father and husband. With Mercury, Igluu, and young Israel, he has a family worth coming home to. Their laughter, arguments, and small routines make the dream tangible. Peace means more than keeping an enemy outside the borders. It means believing his children can grow up safely inside them.

But beyond those borders, fear and ambition have survived. Evoldan blood has become valuable. RealTech is still pursuing the secrets of their abilities. As Hozoki negotiates for independence, new political leadership brings mounting pressure, armed patrols, and the threat of another conflict. The future he is trying to protect begins closing in around him.

Then Igluu fails to come home.

Prince Inowey has royal blood, a place in the castle, and a family whose magic can make armies tremble. What he does not have is a bond of his own. In a world where spirits grant extraordinary abilities, that absence follows him everywhere. Even a hunt with his warrior sister ends with him pinned beneath a dead beast, waiting to be rescued.

His sisters wear the marks of their power openly. Inowey keeps his arms covered. Without a pact with a Mweya, a spirit, he cannot contend for the throne. Each attempt to forge that connection brings fresh agony and another failure. His devoted guardian, Onyi, insists that he has worth beyond what he lacks. Believing her is harder after every ritual.

Then his father returns to oversee another attempt. Violet flames rise around the stone chamber. Runes blaze. The familiar pain begins, but this time the portal stays open. Through it comes an enormous two-headed bear, half flowering life and half rotting flesh. Its presence fills the room with opposing forces, and for one breathtaking moment, Inowey sees an end to the years of failure.

He reaches out. The creature reaches back. Before they can touch, a magenta corruption tears through the ritual. The spirit is dragged into the void, and the backlash leaves Inowey fighting for his life. The bond was almost his. Something stopped it.

Now the question is harder to ignore: why can nothing reach him?
